Welcome March!
This week brings a lull in the astrological energy as we begin the week on the heels of a new moon. On Friday, we welcome a change in the calendar as we transition to March. Hints of spring begin to appear. There is a change in the air, the days grow slightly longer, sun warms new spots in the yard, new flower buds form on bushes and trees. The first bulbs of the year send up tender green shoots. In this is a time of transition we navigate the watery depths of Pisces and say goodbye to an astrological year.
Weekly Collective Reading 2/25 - 3/2/24
Embrace: Queen of Cups + Strength
This week we are asked to revisit the theme of the year, which corresponds to the number 8 (2+0+2+4) and thus the Strength card in the Tarot. Here we see that energy represented by the strength card from the Spring Equinox oracle. We are asked to recognizes the different kinds of strength that are called for throughout the year: patience, hope, restraint, resilience, faith. Think about how we may align our emotions with the energy of the season. Our spiritual cup is renewed with there promise of spring around the corner. Fresh new leaves begin to form. Birds are singing in the treetops. Life finds a way.
Release: The Sun + Clarity
One thing we may consider letting go of this week is our expectation of control. Just like we cannot control the weather, we cannot always expect sunny skies, happiness and joy. We must also experience sorrow, disappointment, and thunderstorms. In releasing the expectation that you can always control your emotions, you create space to explore them with curiosity and compassion. Having an open mind about what you are feeling can help you understand where the emotions come from, and find effective ways to cope with them in the future.
Advice from Spirit: The Magician + Adventure
As we continue through Pisces season, Spirit reminds us to explore our inner world, our intuition, and our own special kind of unique magic. How can you use your imagination to see the world in a different way? What can you learn from your dreams? What lessons are suspended in the misty atmosphere of your fantasies and daydreams? Take note of the nooks and crannies of life that are of the beaten path, and see what you discover. There may be some hidden insight that rings especially true for you right now.

February Wrap-Up
We find ourselves at the end of another month, as we turn the calendar page to March. In this transitional month we continue through the watery depths of Pisces season, celebrate the Spring Equinox (3/19), enter Aries season (3/19) and end the month with a lunar eclipse (3/25). Use this spread to wrap up the lessons from February and look forward to the next month.
From The Studio
The Major Arcana are all finished for this deck I’m calling “The Graphic Tarot” (for now; I need to find a good name!). Now I’m working on the Monir cards, and I’ve started with the suit of swords. I’m really struggling with a concept for the design. I tried representing the swords as actual swords but it was too spot-on; I want something more symbolic. Then I thought, well maybe the swords could be represented by a pen, and appear on each card. But quickly the design became too crowded, because I want to maintain some collage elements on each card. I decided each card would follow the trend of the Major Arcana and have different elements and objects the represent the meaning of the card. This is a lot more challenging than just repeating a motif, and it will take me longer to do, but I like the result better. To main cohesiveness in each suit, the background design will be the same texture but with different colors, and there will be a floral element on each suit card that has a color correspondence (swords will be yellow, for example). I’ll see how this goes but it’s a decent starting place for now. Here are some rough drafts of the swords suit:
